A group of our Mini Vinnies made the short journey to see, first-hand, the wonderful work of the SVP and to experience real, daily examples of ‘Love in Action’. It was a valuable opportunity for the children to see how faith and kindness are put into practice in meaningful ways.
They were able to see where our food donations go and even took part in some volunteering themselves, which helped them to better understand the impact of their efforts. We saw the whole range of work that SVP volunteers do, and this visit has given us some ideas about how we might widen our range of support for others in the future.
We were particularly interested in the lunchtime drop-in sessions and the Kindness Kitchens, which not only help to feed and support people in need, but also enable them to come together in a welcoming and caring environment.
